The Color Plug is a small board containing the TAOS  digital light color sensor. 

This chip measures the color chromaticity and illuminance of ambient light with up to 16-bits of resolution. An array of 16 tiny photodiodes have red, green, blue and neutral filters, their transfer functions factory trimmed to give very precise repeatability.

An I2c bus interface running at 3.3v (address 0x39) transfers captured data at up to 400kHz. All the power and signal lines are brought out to both sides of the board for daisy-chaining other i2c-conformant boards.

The pre-assembled board comes with the SMD-sized TCS3414 chip and decoupling capacitor already soldered onto the board. Note that no 6-pin headers are included.

The PCB only variant contains just the board for the Color Plug. No parts, no headers.

As connectors you can use a set with 10 male and 10 female 6-pin headers, which makes it easy to connect multiple plugs and JeeNodes in a “standard” way. Or you can solder the board directly in place for more permanent use.
